SUSTAINABILITY
FORM RE recognises the importance of sustainability and its responsibility to manage environmental and social impacts of its business.
Real estate contributes to an estimated 40% of greenhouse gas emissions through building construction and operations. While the UK is making positive progress towards achieving net zero by 2050, Cop 27 renewed calls for urgent decarbonisation of the global economy.
We work closely with our clients to limit carbon emissions at every stage of the property life cycle, from concept and design through to construction and building operations. We also recognise the social impact of our projects on occupiers and communities and strive to incorporate health and wellbeing into building design and construction to improve human health and enjoyment of the spaces we create.
We work with leading energy and sustainability specialists to analyse existing buildings and opine on new developments. We incorporate their specialist advice into our investment analysis and design recommendations to optimise energy performance and ensure buildings are compliant with regulatory codes and standards such as Building Regulations Part L, Energy Performance Certificates (‘EPC’) and Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (‘MEES’).
We support the principles of a circular economy and where economically viable, we look to re-purpose and upgrade existing assets, minimise waste and pollution, and explore ways to enhance building utilisation and value through the adoption of flexible spaces.
Through innovative design, responsible procurement, and smart building operations we help to reduce the impact real estate has on the natural environment and deliver enduring value for stakeholders through reduced operational cost, increased asset value and enhanced occupier productivity and enjoyment.
To demonstrate building performance, we work with various building certification schemes.
